WHAT IS UNDP ACCELERATOR LAB?

The UNDP Mauritius and Seychelles Accelerator Lab, launched on 21 April 2021, is part of a global network of 91 Accelerator Labs covering 115 countries and operates within the UNDP Mauritius and Seychelles Country Office.

Our mission is to address complex and rapidly changing development challenges by identifying, testing and upscaling the grassroots innovations of Mauritius, Rodrigues and Seychelles. Together with the local grassroots innovators, we want to accelerate progress towards the UN 2030 Agenda and achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. We have 8 1/2 years in front of us and, therefore, we need to be fast and curious.

WHY DO WE NEED 10 UN COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS NOW?

The Mauritius and Seychelles Accelerator Lab is hiring 10 Community Volunteers: 5 for the Republic of Mauritius, including Rodrigues, and 5 for the Republic of Seychelles for a period of 6 months, starting in October 2021.

The Community Volunteers will help us capture insights, knowledge, audio, video, and data across the three islands. The objective is to understand how people are coping, building resilience, and creating solutions as they face challenges ranging from the environmental impacts of climate change to the socioeconomic disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic and other forms of uncertainties in a world that is prone to diverse shocks. 

The 10 UN Community volunteers will support the Accelerator Lab to bring together all the identified innovators and solutions to build a GRassroot Innovation Database (GRID) covering Mauritius and Seychelles, comprising new approaches to cope with today's development challenges.
